Most wholesale cardamom passes through two or three traders before a buyer ever sees it. Each one takes a margin, and each handoff makes it harder to answer the only question that matters: where did this sack actually come from? Here's how we do it differently — because we're the farm.

The Middleman Problem

A typical wholesale lot gets picked on a high-range farm, sold at auction or to an aggregator, blended with lots from other farms, re-graded (or not), and sold on. By the end, "Idukki cardamom" on the invoice might mean anything, and nobody in the chain can tell you the harvest date. Every layer added cost without adding a single gram of quality.

Our Model: We Grow It

PureLeven started as a black pepper farm in Rajakumary, in the Idukki high ranges above Munnar. We switched most of our land to cardamom years ago — three to four harvests a year instead of pepper's single December picking — and we've told that whole story here. Today we harvest, dry, sort and grade on our own land. For larger wholesale volumes, we buy from a small circle of neighbouring high-range farms we've known for years — farms whose drying yards we can literally walk to and check.

What That Means for a Wholesale Buyer

  • Better pricing: one margin between the plant and your order, not three
  • Real traceability: harvest date printed on every bag; we can tell you which week your lot was picked
  • Grading you can trust: we sort by millimetre and discard heavily — hollow, immature and damaged pods never reach the sack
  • Consistency: the same hands grade every batch, so your third order behaves like your first

Quality You Can Check, Not Just Believe

Every claim we make is verifiable: pod sizes are stated in millimetres you can measure with a ruler, and lab reports covering essential oil, moisture and foreign matter are available with bulk orders. That's the practical benefit of buying from the source — the person quoting you is the person accountable for the sack.

And the Farms Around Us

Buying from neighbours isn't a compromise — it's how high-range farming has always worked. These are small family plots, shade-grown, hand-picked, and the extra income from direct wholesale (versus dumping lots at auction) stays in the village. Your bulk order genuinely pays farmers better than the traditional chain does.
